Throwing out leftovers? Don't. Turn it into compost that can then be spread around in your garden. When you use compost, you turn fertilize the soil and give plants more nutrients like they need. You also stimulate root growth. There is no reason to throw away your cash on your scraps.

You may not realize it but you can save the environment by using products and packages that have been recycled. Green Garden Tip #4 - Make It Yourself Food

If you have started to look at organic foods on the supermarket shelves, you need how costly they can be. Save some money and grow your own food. There are about 40 million acres of lawns in the lower 48 states. This means that it is the largest irrigated crop in the U.S. However, homeowners and renters alike spray on pounds and pounds of fertlizer to make their grass and garden grow. Want to capture fresh rainwater? Purchase a rain barrel to help you out. Rainwater has no added chemicals and can be used for lawns, gardens and yards. You can also use it for washing cars and/or rinsing windows. When you use rainwater, you also save a bit more money on your water bill.  You can avoid erosion of the Earth from the reduction of storm water runoff. You'll want to place a screen on your barrel to ensure that birds, insects and debris are unable to get it. Be sure to use the green garden water frequently.

Green Garden Tip #8 - Watering

Be sure to water your garden carefully. For instance, during the summertime hot spells lay down mulch and compost to retain the water and cutting down quick evaporation. Be sure you water early in the day and place the green garden water directly on plants' roots.

Butterflies and bees help pollinate the vast array of flowers. Be sure to have 10 or more bee-attracting plants to bring them in. Have you heard that bees are on the decline? What are the four Rs? For the United States Environmental Protection Agency, it is: reduce, reuse, recycle and rebuy. Be sure to reuse your compost pile and any tree clippings for mulch. Reuse rainwater to water thus saving you money, time and energy. When you recycle, you save the environment from further damage that incurs to mine resources. Rebuying means you are seeking goods to meet the needs you have but they are environmentally friendly.
